In the 1930s, people loved hearing tall tales about the superhuman cowboy
known as Pecos Bill. As the story went, Bill played with bears and other wild
animals when he was a baby. Then he became separated from his parents and
lost, and was raised by coyotes. He roamed the prairies with his pack and forgot
what it was like to be human. However, when he was 17, he went to live with
humans and became a cowboy who rode a mountain lion and used a rattlesnake
as a whip. Of course, he picked an unusual bride. Bill married Slue-Foot Sue, who
rode a catfish as big as a whale. Turns out she, too, had a bit of coyote in her, so
they were a howling-good match.
