To be a good detective, you have to know what facts
are important and not important to the case you’re
solving! So, ask yourself questions as you read.

Tomatoes are not my
favorite garden food.
Every time I climb up on
the roof of my garage
and hang from my oak
tree, I can see the
tomatoes growing in his
garden.
Who ever heard of
putting red tomato sauce
in a green jar?

Cross out:

His dog is named
Skipper.
He walked three in a
row.
The Bears wear their
socks on the outside of
their pants.
Some players have
stripes on their socks and
some do not.
They did not expect to
lose to the Tigers.
The Tigers beat the Bears
by 9 points.
The Bears expect to even
the score.
The Bears take a yellow
school bus to games.
Corrected article:
The Tanglewood Tigers
beat the Bedlam Bears
last night in their first
game of the season. The
Tigers’ pitcher, Dash
Nash, pitched a great
game. In the first inning
it looked like Nash would
be taken out of the game
for walking the first three
batters. He settled down
and struck out the next
three Bears that came to
plate. The Bears have a
strong team this year. It
was a surprising loss for
them. The Bears’ starting
line-up is considered to be
the best in the league.
Last year, four of the
players made the All-Star
team. The final score was
Tigers 12, Bears 3. The
two teams meet again in
two weeks. It should be
an exciting game. I think
everyone in the school
should come!
