The Desert

When you think of the desert, you may picture lots of sand and not much else.
There is more life in the desert than you might think. Many types of cacti grow there.
Birds called roadrunners chase lizards through the sand. The desert can be very
hot during the daytime, but it gets very cold at night. When the wind blows strongly,
it builds large mounds of sand. If you go to the desert, be sure to take enough
water. There are not many bodies of water, and it hardly ever rains. You also should
wear light clothing, a hat, and plenty of sunscreen.
