SHSAT SCORING IS DETAILED IN SECTION 1: THE BASICS. HOWEVER, HERE’S A
QUICK RECAP.
There are 50 questions in the Math Section and 45 questions in the Verbal Section. Each section is worth 50 raw points (Scrambled
Paragraphs are worth 2 raw points each) to give you a raw score on a 100-point scale. Your raw score is converted into a scaled
score out of 800 points. It is not possible to look at your raw score and know what your scaled score will be. The scaled scores are
adjusted to fit the normal curve. Kaplan cannot provide a scaled score for you here because your scaled score depends on how well
other students do on the test.
The point of this practice is to give you a chance to work through a realistic SHSAT, not to identify whether or not your results on
this test would get you into one of the specialized high schools. That will depend not only on how well you do but also on how many
applicants take the test and how well they do.
