Little Jack Horner
Sat in a corner,
Eating his Christmas pie;
He put in his thumb,
And pulled out a plum,
And said, “What a good boy am I!”
Second Read with Motions

Little Jack Horner
Sat in a corner,
[Say to students, “A corner is an area of a room where two walls meet. A corner
is also the part of a shape where two sides meet.” Squat down like you are
sitting.]
Eating his Christmas pie;
[Mime eating.]
He put in his thumb,
[Put thumb in pretend pie.]
And pulled out a plum,
[Say to students, “A plum is a small fruit. Usually you will see purple plums, but
plums come in different colors—red, blue, green, and yellow.” If available, pass
around different kinds of plums. (Later, you may wish to let students sample a
piece of plum.) Pull out thumb and look pleased.]
And said, “What a good boy am I!”
[Say this with expression and high pitch.]
