manyspecialplacesthere.We’vealways
spenta lotoftimeinToodyay,wheremy
parentshavea property.ThenAlbanyis
extraordinary– suchbeautifulbeaches.
Andthere’sCowaramupBay,whichis
justbeforeMargaretRiver– weusedto
go there a lot when I was growing up.

I liveinBowralintheSouthernHighlands
ofNSW.I’velivedhereforthreeyears

    lovethatit’ssoclosetoSydney,butalso
    removed.Theantiquestores are amazing.
    Butwespenda lotof
    time travelling for work.


Mykidsarefiveand
sevenyearsold.They
areyoungandflexible
soit’sa goodtimeto
travelwiththem.They
gotoSteinerschoolsso
theydon’tusuallywatch
screens– whenwedogoona flight,they
tendtobefixatedontheTVs.It’sa long
game,butif youcanremovescreensfrom
yourchildren,thenwhenyoudotake
a long-haul flight, it’s fantastic!

I’ma fairlyorganisedperson–andwhen
it comestopackingandtravellingI’m
a prettywell-oiledmachinenow.My
husbandis a proat planningwhenit
comestohotels,airporttransfersand
researchingrestaurants.Inoureveryday
lives, I’m usually the one to sort out

thingslikethat,sowhenwegoon
holidays,it’sa doubleholiday– I getto
goaway,butI geta breakfromorganising
everything. We’re a really great duo.

Eventhoughitscharactersaresetin
Russia,wefilmina studioinEast
London;wealsodosomeexteriors
inruralEngland.Thenwefilmmost
oftheexteriorsinCaserta, whichis
just outside of Naples.

WefilmedattheRoyalPalaceofCaserta
in southern Italy.It’sa breathtakingplace

    ludicrous.I wouldoften
    justwalkaroundand
    lookat thefrescosonthe
    ceilings,fascinatedbyall
    thepeoplethatwould
    havelookedupat the
    sameceiling,andall
    theeventsthatbuilding
    would have witnessed over the years.


I’mreallyunsureastowhatwillhappen
nextintermsoftravel.Overall,Covid-19
inAustraliahasbeenprettymanageable
(nottounderstatethetragedy).It’squite
dauntingtobeconsideringheadingback
toEnglandandEurope– but we’ll only
do so when it’s safe.
