- From here, click the Close button. You will add the Data Source Name later.
Congratulations, you have successfully installed the MyODBC driver.
Setting Up the Data Source Name (DSN)
Now that the MyODBC driver is installed, you can create a Data Source Name for you applications to use. A
Data Source Name is a file that contains all the specific information pertinent to your database. For example,
a DSN will contain all the connection information, database names, and usernames for a particular database.
In this way, an application only has to use the DSN to help configure the ODBC driver. You will learn how to
get around using DSN to connect to your database later. Perform the following steps to add a DSN for the
Meet_A_Geek database.
- Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, as shown in Figure 13.4.

- Double-click the ODBC Data Sources (32 bit) icon. It will open the ODBC Data
Source Administrator (see Figure 13.5).
