Beware of acid rain: Beware of acid rain from industrial fallout. What is acid
rain? Simply, it is the atmosphere’s way of cleaning itself of pollutants.
Chemical pollutants in the air combine with water vapor to form nitric and
sulfuric acids. When it rains, this “acid rain” collects in droplets on your
vehicle’s surface. As the water evaporates, the acid concentration increases, and
it eats into the paint surface (the rate accelerates with the heat from the sun).
These harmful effects can be caused by dew or fog, as well as rain. Rinse and
dry your vehicle often to prevent acid rain damage. Other things you can do?
Park in a garage or carport, have a paint sealer or protector applied to the paint
finish, and drive the car frequently so that water droplets blow off.
