Scoliosis

(laeticia) #1

Scoliosis may often irritate or place pressure on the nerves
in and around the spine, causing discomfort, numbness,
and a tingling feeling that can be felt down to the feet in
the lower back. In these situations, injections of steroids
and local anesthetic into the back can help. But the effects
of these injections typically last just a few weeks or months,
so they are usually not a long-term solution.

Spinal Injections

Back braces

In adults with scoliosis, back braces are not commonly
used, but by protecting the spine, they can provide pain
relief. If a patient is not in a healthy condition to undergo
an operation, a brace can be seen as an alternative to
surgery.
