profile in PH cyclones and risers. TKIL increased it
partially. This additional insulation concept would
result in heat saving by around 6-8 kcal/kg clinker
due to a reduction in shell temperature by 10–15%.
Bigger sizing of PH cyclone – To have lower
volumetric loading <1 TPD/m³ than standard and
future potential on capacity and efficient heat
transfer would lead to slow and uniform heating of
raw mix so that higher calcination up to the core
of the material can be attained in PH tower itself,
resulting in lower thermal loading on the kiln, and
hence improved refractory life. Also no CO and
coating in pre-heater cyclones and risers. The
bigger sizing of cyclones would be helpful in NOX
reduction also.

Pre-calciner Design

For pre-calciner sizing and design, the specific requirement
given to all suppliers to maximize the height of pre-calciner
using the available space parallel to cyclones and if required
pre-calciner to be accommodated on the top floor of the
pre-heater with the volumetric loading of pre-calciner at
<2 TPD/m³ at potential capacity (i.e. 9,500 TPD). This way,
maximum retention time could be achieved, it would be
helpful for the complete burning of petcoke with higher
residue, various alternate fuel resources, and other hard
burnt fuel even on the potential capacity operation. The
lower volumetric loading of pre-calciner results in better
heat transfer in pre-calciner to achieve a better calcination
