With wellness came happiness. She wanted to go home again. Although
healing was underway, we felt the chance of another abscess hiding in her
jaw was quite good. It was not simply a matter of taking X-rays of teeth,
spotting the infected teeth, and dealing with them. These abscesses were hid-
den. [At that time I did not know about digital X-rays.] She should stay till
this possibility was cleared completely. But she was quite sure her dentist at
home would do all the proper things. Our pleadings were in vain. She had
one more bone scan done (June 2) to prove her point, it seemed. It was much
improved. Bones are more distinct, less “fuzzy.” Scan shows much less
whiteness.
She could walk without crutches. She was not on pain killer. It was the
perfect time to continue, it seemed to us. But her children beckoned. And go
she must, in true motherly fashion. Would she ever come back? She prom-
ised. But promises mean nothing to the great reaper.
