“Baby’s Breath for Cecelia”
KATHERINE DOSSMAN • BELTON, TEXAS
“My grandmother’s favorite fl ower was baby’s
breath. She also enjoyed embroidery. She was my
inspiration for this challenge. I used improv and
walking foot quilting for the background; French
knots to make the fl owers , and straight stitch for
the stems.”
“40 Shades of Green”
ETHELDA ELLIS •COUNTY LAOIS, IRELAND
“Th is quilt is inspired by daily walks along the
ever-changing greens of the hedges of our
Emerald Island. I joined the cut-off edges of
numerous previous quilts, zigzagging them
together with invisible thread and then
enhancing the little quilt with more free-
motion quilting and embroidery. Th e spear
thistle fl owers were raw-edge appliquéd.”
