story we label good, we tend to be happy. We feel good. And when we tell
ourselves a story we label bad, we tend to be sad. We don’t feel good
anymore.
You might be sitting in that same office chair and the only thing that
has changed is your perception of what has come your way. I’m not saying
your pain doesn’t matter, because it does. We need pain to teach us what it
means to be alive. We need to get the wind knocked out of us so that we
can fully appreciate the taste of air. Feel it. Feel it all. But don’t ever give
up. You are still here. Your heart is still beating. You are okay.
Learn to appreciate the twists and turns of life, and your eyes will open
to the magical possibilities of the path you’re on. Look around you. It’s
where you are now, this exact place, that matters. Not where you were
yesterday. Not where you’ll be tomorrow. It’s where you are now. And if
you happen to find yourself at a particularly bumpy part of the road?
Embrace it. Even in darkness, there is light. If things didn’t get a little
darker once in a while, how would you ever know what the beauty of
bright, shining light really means? Without the twists and turns you won’t
value the smooth ride ahead. Don’t judge your life as good or bad. Love
what is. And know this—that bumpy road you’re on? I’m on it too. We all
walk down the same path, and our destination is the same.
You are not alone.
