All of these aspects can be managed using natural and sustainable local materials and
simple techniques.
Many fishpond management techniques can be easily integrated with other farming
systems.
All of the following key points of good aquaculture systems management are covered in
detail in the “Pond management” section of PC Book MOD 11 – Aquaculture.
The facilitator can introduce the following key points and encourage a participatory
discussion about aquaculture management as the participants may know of other
techniques or aspects of management not covered here.
Fish food
- Natural food from the ponds for herbivore and omnivore fish.
- Local types of natural feed for herbivore and omnivore fish.
- Local types of natural feed for carnivore fish.
Fish diseases, pests, and other problems

The importance of cleaning the ponds and avoiding
