and constantly changing vegetarian menu and
recipe books by founder Mollie Katzen. Meat

5 Yerba Maté Factor
Café & Juice Bar Sandwiches $

by members of a fairly obscure religious
organization, this large restaurant, housed
in a converted historic building on the Ithaca
commons, is good for Belgian waffles,
sandwiches and coffee.

a quiet residential street is the kind of place
that appeals to those who have fantasies of

have maintained Hazelnut’s status as arguably
the finest restaurant in the region. Local
ingredients of course, seasonally inspired menu
and au courant interesting meat dishes like pig
face torchon.

4 Buttonwood Grove Winery Cabin $$

log cabins nestled in the hills above Lake
Cayuga (open April to December); free wine

4 Hotel Clarence Boutique Hotel $$

Originally a 1920s-era hotel, the downtown
building housing the Clarence has undergone
a stylish renovation with a nod to the past –
the mahogany bar comes from an old Seneca
Falls saloon and there’s a projection of Frank
Capra’s film It’s a Wonderful Life on the lobby
wall. The standard rooms are small but the
Kitchen, an upscale restaurant, is the best in
town.
