1929 art-deco office tower. While the majority
of floors are taken up by high-end condos, the
three dozen spacious rooms are luxuriously
appointed and the 19th-floor lounge offers
spectacular falls views.

& Sat) For the famous deep-fried chicken wings
covered in a spicy sauce, head to the landmark
restaurant which claims credit for inventing
the ‘delicacy.’ Motorcycles and other random
paraphernalia line the walls and there’s live
music Thursday through Saturday nights.

3-9pm Sat) One of Buffalo’s oldest taverns, with
warped floors and dark-wood walls. Try the gut-
busting German fish fry, which comes with red
cabbage, sauerkraut, potatoes and vegetables.
Homemade potato pancakes ($7), liverwurst and
red onions on rye ($11) are also recommended.

French Renaissance building was designed
by pioneering architect Louise Bethune in the
early 1900s; it’s been restored and stands
impressively intact. The contemporary
furnishings in the rooms and suites can’t
compete with the art-deco lobby and marble
hallway; there’s a steakhouse and bakery on the
premises.

Entering the salon of this inn, completed in 1905
to accommodate artisans and craftspeople
making the pilgrimage to the Roycroft campus,
is like stepping into a museum. Murals by
Fournier adorn the walls, and Morris chairs and
handcrafted lamps adorn the space – this is
no ordinary hotel, but rather a cozy, rustic and
living shrine to the Arts & Crafts movement.

at the southern end of the park is this renovated
Greek Revival home originally built in 1829.
Wood-floored standard rooms are small but
there’s plenty of public space in the second-
floor library lounge with falls views and front
porch; a somewhat formal restaurant (mains
$10) is on the ground floor. Open from late April
to late October.
