UnknowntoSildar,IarnocreatedtheRedbrands,
installedhimselfastheirleader,andtookthealias
Glasstafftoconcealhisidentity.(TheRedbrandscallhim
thatbecausehecarriesaglassstaff.)Oncehelearnsthe
truthaboutIarno,Sildarexpressesadesiretohavethe
wizardcapturedandtransportedtoNeverwintertoface
thejudgmentofahigherauthority.RegardlessofIarno’s
fate,Sildarrewardsthepartywith (^200) gpforeliminating
theRcdbrandthreat.
JoiningtheLords’Alliance
IfthepartyeliminatesthegoblinthreatfromCragmaw
CastleoruncoversIarno’streachery,SildarHallwinter
privatelyapproachescertainmembersofthegrouptourge
themtojointheLords’Alliance.Hespeakswiththosewho
exemplifyadesireforthesecurityofcivilizationthrough
action.Ifacharacteragrees,SildarHallwinterawardsthe
individualthetitleofCloak.
TresendarManor
Moreacastlethanahouse,TresendarManorstandsat
theeastedgeoftownonalowhillsideamidwoodsand
thickets.Theancientmanorhaslongbeenabandoned,
butitscellarshavebeenconvertedintoaRedbrand
stronghold.Ifthecharactersinvestigatethisplace,they
findtheentrancetotheRedbrandhideout.
RedbrandRuffians
Withinadayorsooftheadventurers’arrivalinPhandalin,
aconfrontationwiththeRedbrandsbecomesinevitable.
Thiscanhappeninanumberofdifferentways:
- AfterspeakingwithanumberofNPCsintown,the
charactersdecidetoconfronttheRedbrandsatthe
SleepingGianttaphouse. - ThecharactersdecidetoinvestigateTresendarManor.
Skiptheencounterandgostraightto“Redbrand
Hideout.” - IfthecharactersshownointerestintheRedbrands,a
gangoftheruffiansseeksthemoutandpicksafightin
street.Runthisencounterasthecharactersareleaving
oneofthelocationsinthetown.
Confrontation
IfthecharactersconfronttheRedbrandsatthe
SleepingGiant,read:
TheSleepingGiantisaramshackletaproomattheeastend
oftown.Fourhumanruffianslingeronthecoveredporch,
perchedonemptyalebarrelsorleaningagainstthewall.They
allweargrimyscarletcloaks,theirsullenstaresfixedonyou
asyouapproach.
Oneofthethugsspitsontheground.“Well,well,”he
snarls."Here’sawholepackoflittlepuppies.Whatdoyou
want,puppies?Comeheretobarkatus?”
IftheRedbrandsconfrontthecharactersinthe
street,read:

Continuetheinsultsandbaitingaslongasyoulike.The
Redbrandsattackinaroundortwoifthecharacters
don’t.Neithersideissurprised,becauseit’sobviousthata
fightisbrewing.
ThegroupconsistsoffourRedbrandruffians.If
threeofthemaredefeated,thelastonefleestoward
TresendarManor.
Developments
Redbrandswhoarecapturedorcharmedbythe
characterscanimpartusefulinformation.(Seethe“What

HarbinWesterwon’twanttokeepRedbrandprisoners
untilheknowsthewholeganghasbeendefeated,
butthecharacterscaneasilypersuadeorintimidate
himintolockingupanyprisonerstheycaptureforat
leastafewdays.
Ifthecharacterskilltheruffians,mostmembersofthe
townaregrateful.Oneexceptionisthetownmaster,who
fearsRedbrandretaliation.Harbindoesn’tpunishthe
charactersbutwarnsthemnottocausetrouble.
