هَ
15 So they went away with him, andagreed to put him at the bottom ofthe well. And We inspired him, “Youwill inform them of this deed of theirswhen they are unaware.”١٦

16 And they came to their father inthe evening weeping.١٧

17 They said, “O father, we went offracing one another, and left Josephby our belongings; and the wolf atehim. But you will not believe us,even though we are being truthful.”هِ ي صِ مِ ١٨

18 And they brought his shirt, withfake blood on it. He said, “Your soulsenticed you to do something. Butpatience is beautiful, and Allah is myHelp against what you describe.”١٩

يمٌ عَ لِ
19 A caravan passed by, and theysent their water-carrier. He loweredhis bucket, and said, “Good news.Here is a boy.” And they hid him asmerchandise. But Allah was awareof what they did.٢٠

20 And they sold him for a cheapprice—a few coins—they consideredhim to be of little value.٢١

ِّ
ۦٓهِتِ ن ممِ

21 The Egyptian who bought him saidto his wife, “Take good care of him;he may be useful to us, or we mayadopt him as a son.” We thusestablished Joseph in the land, toteach him the interpretation ofevents. Allah has control over Hisaffairs, but most people do not know.٢٢

22 When he reached his maturity, Wegave him wisdom and knowledge.We thus reward the righteous.٢٣

23 She in whose house he was livingtried to seduce him. She shut thedoors, and said, “I am yours.” Hesaid, “Allah forbid! He is my Lord. He
