he drawings that accompany Appendix B are included
in the drawing packet that accompanies this textbook.
These drawings are used for selected review questions.

OUTLINE SPECIFICATIONS


Section 1—Excavation


Topsoil excavation shall be carried 4 feet beyond all
walls.
Excavation shall be carried to the depth shown on the
drawings.
All excess earth, not needed for fill, shall be removed
from the premises.
Existing grade is 106 6 .

Section 2—Concrete


Concrete for footings shall develop a compressive
strength of 3,000 psi in 28 days.
Reinforcing bars shall be A-15 Intermediate Grade.

Section 3—Masonry


Concrete masonry shall be 16 inches in length.
Mortar joints shall be 3/8 inch thick, gray.
Brick shall be standard size, red.

Section 4—Framing


All wood framing shall be sized in accordance with the
drawings and building code requirements.
All wood framing shall be kiln dried.
Metal bridging is required in the floor joists.
Roof ridge shall be 10 80.
Collar ties are required every third rafter.

Section 5—Door Frames, Doors, Windows


Door frames shall be ponderosa pine.
Interior doors shall be 1^3 ⁄ 8 inches thick, birch, hollow
core.
Exterior door—allow $200 for exterior doors.
Doors shall be of the sizes indicated on the drawings.
Windows shall be wood, of the size and shape shown on
the drawings.
Hardware—allow $250.
Sliding glass doors shall have insulating glass, anodized
aluminum frames, and a screen.

Section 6—Roofing


Roofing felt shall be 15 pounds.
Roofing shingles shall be 300 pounds per square, asphalt,
Johns-Manville or equal. Roof slope shall be 4 in 12.

Section 7—Finishes


All exposed exterior wood finishes shall receive one coat
of approved stain.
All interior drywall finishes shall receive two coats of
approved alkyd paint.
Resilient tile shall be 3/32 inch, vinyl, 12 12 inches
from Designer Essentials collection by Mannington.
Base shall be 1/8-inch vinyl, 4 inches high, wood base
required in carpeted areas.
Carpeting shall be selected from the Premier Collection
by Mohawk.
Insulate garage the same as the exterior walls.

Section 8—Drywall


Furnish and install 1/2-inch gypsum board in accor-
dance with the drawings.
