dence. I need him to overhaul every spiritual thing about me. I can-
not be useful when my nets are torn and in need of repair.
Our enemy is determined to destroy the nets with which we do
the work of the kingdom. He is out to see that we suffer and become
useless in our fight against all that is evil.
But when we are at our lowest, we discover that the God of all
grace is on our side. He who has called us to his eternal glory in his
Son Jesus Christ has made it clear that our suffering in the spiritual
battle will not go on forever and it will not be in vain. What’s more,
after we have suffered a little while, he will be the one who restores
us (mends our nets). He will give us encouragement and hope. He
will strengthen us in every good deed and make us firm and stead-
fast in the fight (1 Pet. 5:10).
How can we not lift a prayer of praise and thanksgiving to the
God of all grace who goes with us into the fight, and who calls us to
his own eternal glory in his Son? How can we not say of our God,
“To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen”?
Oh, Father, you are always coming to my defense. I worship you for
that. You truly are the God of all grace. Your mercies surround me.
You call me to you and I come joyfully. You call me to your glory. You
repair my nets and steady my feet. To you be all praise and thanks-
