durans all speaking rapidly in Spanish. Possessing virtually no skills
in Spanish, I felt totally lost and left out.
Then it occurred to me that our sovereign Lord was listening to
every heart in that airport. It was not too difficult for him to hear
each of us distinctly though we were “broadcasting” in a great jum-
ble of thoughts, words, languages, and prayers all at the same time.
Though I am only one small person on one small planet in one
small solar system, I am not a speck to my Father. I am his daugh-
ter. He knows more than my DNA, more than my fingerprints, more
than my family background. He knows me. In fact he has known me
from before the foundations of the world.
When David considered the fact that God had searched him and
known him; had known his sitting and his rising; had perceived his
thoughts from afar; was familiar with all his ways, he could only
conclude, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me” (Ps. 139:16).
It may seem too wonderful for you, too. But it is true. God knows
us and loves us. He sent his own Son to earth to seek us out. And he
is waiting right now to hear our prayers. There is nothing too small
or too large to bring before our Father in heaven. There is nothing
he won’t hear and help with. There is nothing too difficult for him.

O Sovereign Lord who created the heavens with your mighty arm,
thank you for the mercies that you shower on me. Thank you that
you have created me to love you and then drawn me to you. Thank
you that instead of keeping me at a distance you have invited me to
