24. Choosing the Best

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in
knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what
is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ.

HYdo we pray for God’s gifts of insight and knowledge
and wisdom in our lives and in the lives of those for whom
we intercede? Why do we want his love to abound in all of us? Is it
merely for our own personal enjoyment? No, there is a higher mo-
tive. We want to be able to discern God’s design when we face deci-
sions and choices.
I understood what Pastor Phil Ware meant when he stated:
I don’t know about you, but my most difficult decisions are not
about choosing between good and bad. I usually know what is
good and what is bad, especially when bad involves evil. My
toughest choices are when I have to choose between good, better,
and best.
My love for God usually overcomes my weakness and I choose
