availability group. If you select this option, you must also specify a fi le share on
the network that all the replicas have access to. This is where the database and
log backups will be sent to begin synchronization.
■ Join Only: Assumes you have already restored a copy of the database on the
secondary replicas and begins data synchronization to them. The selected data-
bases are then joined to the availability group.
■ (^) Skip Initial Data Synchronization: Select this option if you want to manually
perform a database and log a backup of each primary database.
- After you choose your synchronization options and click Next, the Validation
Wizard validates that all options specifi ed are correct and working. If there are any
issues in your confi guration, click the result link for more details. Click Next to
proceed to the Summary screen. - At the Summary screen, you can review all the options you’ve specifi ed to this
point. In addition, you can choose to generate a script of this process, as shown in
Figure 27-23, by clicking the Script button. When you fi nish reviewing, click Finish
to initiate the creation and initialization of the availability group.
