gence, guiding its advance with clear and
competentknowledge. Thoughtwillbestudied
asitissentfrommindtomind,andpsychology
willnolongerbeajumbleofwords,agrouping
ofunenlightenedideas; thewholewillfallinto
order,willbegraduallyunderstoodandmastered,
forthepsychologistwillthenknowinwhatthe
mindof manconsists,andwillbegin to under-
stand the method of its working and the
possibilitiesofitsunfoldingpowers.
Think too of philosophy. There will no
longerbe any possibility even of discussion as
toits basis inviewof thewiderknowledge,of
powersbeforeuncredited,ofmatterwithpoten-
tialities unimagined, matter found to be so
much subtler than had been thought possible,
but still everacting as agarment forthe life.
Thenwill be supplied what isnow lacking in
idealism-theunderstandingofthe relationship
betweenforceandmatterasthetwoaspectsof
theOne,betweenlifeandthegarmentinwhich
lifeis clothed. Man willcomprehend further
howmatterissubjecttothelife,howitassumes
the form that thought commands, how the
creativepower isable to function,though this
will be grasped far more fully in the regions
beyond.
