Treatment principle The treatment was aimed at removing Dampness and Cold from the
joints while simultaneously nourishing Liver and Kidneys. Only
acupuncture was used.
Acupuncture The main points used were:
L.I.-10 Shousanli (warm needle), ST-36 Zusanli (warm needle) to expel
Damp and Cold from the channels;
G.B.-40 Qiuxu and SP-5 Shangqui (both warm needle) as local points
to expel Cold and Damp from the feet channels;
KI-3 Taixi, KI-7 Fuliu, BL-23 Shenshu and BL-18 Ganshu were
tonified to nourish Liver and Kidneys.
She started to improve after the first treatment and steadily progressed
until most of the pain and swelling disappeared after eight treatments.
She also noticed a great improvement in her energy and the nocturia
decreased.
