Explanation
- Shui Niu Jiao is specific to cool Blood at the Blood Level of febrile diseases. It also
stops bleeding. - Sheng Di Huang cools Blood and stops bleeding.
- Chi Shao and Dan Pi cool and move Blood and stop bleeding.
Variations
- To harmonize Blood (stop bleeding, eliminate stasis, calm and nourish Blood) add Qian
Cao Gen Radix Rubiae cordifoliae (both to stop bleeding and move Blood), Di Yu Radix
Sanguisorbae officinalis and Gou Qi Zi Fructus Lycii chinensis. There is no need to add
any herb to calm Blood as the formula already contains Sheng Di Huang. - To astringe add Shan Zhu Yu Fructus Corni officinalis.
- To treat Qi add Mu Li Concha Ostreae.
- If Blood-Heat is very pronounced add Zi Cao Radix Lithospermi seu Arnebiae.
