Blood-Heat


Clinical Manifestations


Bright-purple spots under the skin, bleeding from other sites such as nose, intestines or bladder,
mental restlessness, fever at night, thirst.


Tongue: Red without coating, red points all over.


Pulse: Rapid and Fine.


This represents the Blood-Level stage of an acute febrile disease indicating Blood-Heat. It is
always a serious condition. However, it may also occur as a chronic condition in old people with
Blood-Heat usually deriving from Liver-Fire. In such cases there will be no fever.


Treatment Principle


Cool Blood, expel Poison, stop bleeding.

L.I.-11 Quchi, SP-10 Xuehai, KI-2 Rangu, LIV-3 Taichong, SP-6 Sanyinjiao, SP-4 Gongsun.

Explanation



  • L.I.-11 and SP-10 cool the Blood and stop bleeding.

  • KI-2 and LIV-3 cool the Blood. LIV-3 also subdues Wind which is likely to appear at
    the Blood Level of a febrile disease.

  • SP-6 cools Blood and nourishes Yin.

  • SP-4 controls the Blood Connecting channels and stops bleeding under the skin.

  • LIV-5 also stops bleeding under the skin.
