Defensive Qi first and then expel the pathogenic factor. They use this method both for
Wind-Cold and Wind-Heat.
Explanation
- LU-7, L.I.-4 and BL-12 are the three most important points to expel Wind-Cold.
Cupping on BL-12 is extremely effective. In most cases, just these three points are
sufficient to clear the condition. Other points may be selected according to symptoms and
signs. - G.B.-20 and Du-16 expel Wind and are selected if the headache and stiff neck are
pronounced. - BL-13 restores the dispersing and descending of Lung-Qi and is selected if the cough is
pronounced. - L.I.-20 and Du-23 expel Wind and clear the nose and are used if sneezing and runny
nose are pronounced. - Du-20 expels Wind and relieves headache.
- KI-7 is used in conjunction with L.I.-4 to cause sweating. It should be reinforced while
L.I.-4 should be reduced.
