Jie Geng Radix Platycodi grandiflori 6 g
Zhi Ke Fructus Citri aurantii 4 g
Gan Jiang Rhizoma Zingiberis officinalis 2 g
Rou Gui Cortex Cinnamomi cassiae 2 g
Dang Gui Radix Angelicae sinensis 3 g
Bai Shao Radix Paeoniae albae 3 g
Chuan Xiong Radix Ligustici wallichii 3 g

Explanation



  • Ma Huang, Bai Zhi, Cong Bai and Sheng Jiang release the Exterior, expel Wind,
    restore the dispersing of Lung-Qi and stop nasal discharge and itching.

  • Cang Zhu, Hou Po, Chen Pi, and Gan Cao tonify the Stomach and dry Dampness.
    These herbs form the formula Ping Wei San Balancing the Stomach Powder.

  • Ban Xia, and Fu Ling dry Dampness and resolve Phlegm. Together with Chen Pi and
    Gan Cao above they form the prescription Er Chen Tang Two Old Decoction.

  • Jie Geng and Zhi Ke restore the descending of Lung-Qi.

  • Gan Jiang and Rou Gui warm the Middle and dry up watery phlegm and nasal
    discharge.

  • Dang Gui, Bai Shao and Chuan Xiong, a contracted version of the Si Wu Tang
    Four-Substance Decoction, harmonize Blood.


This formula is suitable for very chronic allergic rhinitis with Spleen and Stomach Yang
deficiency and some stasis of Blood. It is particularly suitable for women.
