Excess Type


Stagnation of Liver-Qi


Clinical Manifestations


Hypochondrial pain and distension which is clearly related to the emotional state, a feeling of
oppression in the chest, slight breathlessness, poor appetite, frequent sighing, belching.


Tongue: body-colour normal.


Pulse: Wiry. It may be Wiry only on the left side or only on the Left Middle position.


Treatment Principle


Soothe the Liver and move Qi.

General Prescription


G.B.-34 Yanglingquan, P-6 Neiguan, T.B.-6 Zhigou. Reducing or even method.


Explanation



  • G.B.-34 is the main point for hypochondrial pain and distension. It moves Liver-Qi and
    is specific for the hypochondrial area.

  • P-6 indirectly moves Liver-Qi due to the connection between Pericardium and Liver
    within the Terminal Yin, calms the Mind and settles the Ethereal Soul. It is excellent for
    hypochondrial pain deriving from emotional strain. In particular, it has the effect of
    encouraging the person to get in touch with repressed emotions.

  • T.B.-6 moves Liver-Qi in the hypochondrial region.
