Explanation
This variation omits Zhi Zi, Sheng Di Huang and Dang Gui and adds Huang Bo, Lian Qiao, Chi
Xiao Dou and Bai Mao Gen to drain Damp-Heat, clear Heat, promote diuresis and stop bleeding.
Variations
These variations apply to all three previous prescriptions.
- If oedema is very pronounced add Fang Feng Radix Ledebouriellae sesloidis and Fu Ping
Herba Lemnae seu Spirodelae. - If there is tonsillitis add She Gan Rhizoma Belamcandae chinensis, Niu Bang Zi Fructus
Arctii lappae and Xuan Shen Radix Scrophulariae ningpoensis. - If the urine is very dark and there is intense burning on micturition add Che Qian Cao
Herba Plantaginis. - If there is blood in the urine add Xiao Ji Herba Cephalanoplos segeti (or increase it if is
already present), Zhi Zi Fructus Gardeniae jasminoidis and Yi Mu Cao Herba Leonori
heterophylli to move Blood, cool Blood, stop bleeding and promote diuresis.
