Be a Comfort for Your Husband


Theburdensoflifeweighheavilyupontheshouldersofmensincethey
are responsible for maintaining and supporting their families. In ful-
fillingthisresponsibility,themanofthehouseholdmustconfrontmany
problems and obstacles outside of the home. Some of these problems
maybethepressuresofwork,thehasslesoftrafficandcommutingfrom
the officeto home, concernovereconomical andpolitical issuesof the
day.Sympathyandconcernforfriendsandcolleagues.andthepressures
oftryingtoimprovethelivingconditions ofhisfamily.The amountof
preoccupationsandpressuresuponaresponsiblemanisenormousand
multifaceted.Itisnowonderthattheaveragelifespan ofamanisless
than the woman.


Inorderforthehumanbeingtobeabletocopewiththeburdensoflife
itis necessary to havesomeone to listento andsympathise with him.
Yourhusbandisnoexception.Hemayfeelaloneandinneedoffinding
refuge and comfort amidst these pressures. It is natural that the man
looks towards his wife and family as a source of comfort and relief.
Therefore,anticipate his expectations andneeds. Be cordialand warm
whenhefirstreturnshomeafter workingandhaverefreshmentsorlet
himfeelthatyouareathisdisposaltocareforhisneeds.Trynottoover-
whelmhimwithcriticisinghimtheminuteyouseehim.Lethimrestand
recoverhisstrengthbeforeputtingupthedemandsofthefamily'sper-
sonal issues.


When your husband comes home, try to have a smile and a warm
greeting for him.Attend to his physicalneeds of fatigue, hunger, and
thirst.Thenaskhimabouthisproblems.Ifheisnotwillingtotalk,bea
good listener and sympathise with him. Try to express your genuine
concern and then help him realise that the problems are not as im-
possible and huge as he had thought. Give him encouragement’s of
