Althoughthe futureofyoungmenandwomenlargelydependsona
marriagewhichrequiresawarenessoftheImportanceoftheconceptsof
marriageandpreparationforundertakingsuchataskoursocietyunfor-
tunately neglects the importance of these conditions.


The parents pay a great deal of attention to such points as dowry,
beauty,andpersonality. However, they disregardthe readinessfores-
tablishingamaritallifeasanecessarycondition.Theymarrytheirsons
anddaughtersoffwithoutprovidingadequateinformationaboutfamily
life.


Consequently two youngand inexperienced people step into a new
lifeandconfrontmanyproblems.Differences,arguments,andfightsbe-
gin to develop. Their parents theninterfere to help resolvethe differ-
ences.But,sincetheirinterference’saremostlybiased,thedifferencesare
exaggerated and the situation becomes worse.


Theinitialyearsoffamilylifeareeventfulandcritical.Thisistheperi-
odwheremanyfamiliescanbetornbetweendivorceanddisintegration.
Someofthemcontinuetheirmarriageandpreferthisself-madeprisonto
divorceand others learn more about each otherand form a relatively
comfortable life.


Whatanicethingitcouldbehadtherebeensomemeansofeducating
andinformingyoungmenandwomenaboutthefoundationsandthees-
tablishmentofmarriageintheformofclassesentitled"marriageprepar-
ation"whichwould preparethem forestablishingtheirown families. I
am hopeful of the day that such programme is established.


Thepresentbookiswrittenonthebasisofthisnecessity.Inresolving
theissuesofthisbook,IhavereliedupontheHolyQur'an,thetraditions
oftheHolyProphet(SA)andtheInfallibleImams(AS),aswellassome
general statistics, and my personal experience.


Althoughcertainguidelinesforabettermarriagehavebeenpresented,
I do not claim that all family problems can be solvedby reading this
book.Itishopedthatthebookwillprovidebetterinsightandawareness
