Signs of a Low EQ


  1. Can tell the details and thoughts of
    an event, but cannot tell feelings
    about it; becomes flustered when
    articulating emotions.

  2. Is insecure and defensive and finds
    it hard to admit mistakes, express
    remorse, or apologize sincerely.


3.Cannot or does not want to interpret
signals of emotional discomfort in
others (are bullish with their agendas).


  1. Lets things build up and then
    overreacts to something relatively
    minor.

  2. Attacks, blames, commands,
    criticizes, and judges others.

  3. Is a poor listener, interrupts,
    invalidates.

  4. Misses the emotions being
    communicated; focuses on facts,
    rather than feelings.

  5. Uses intellect to judge and criticize
    others without realizing they are
    feeling superior, judgmental, and
    critical, and without awareness of how
    their actions impact others’ feelings.

  6. Locks self into courses of action
    against common sense.

  7. Is easily manipulated into action by
    use of guilt or coercion.

  8. Views failure as an affirmation of
    personal inadequacy.

Expresses feelings clearly and directly.

Is not afraid to express insecurities
and fears.

Is able to read nonverbal
communication.

Is able to articulate frustrations without
offending other party.

Ta kes ownership of own fears,
anxieties, and insecurities.

Is interested in the fears, concerns,
and ideas of others.

Reads between the lines of
communication for motive or controlling
emotion.

Is cautious and tactful in giving
feedback.

Balances feelings with reason, logic,
and reality.

Is independent, self-reliant, and
morally autonomous; acts out of
desire, not because of duty, guilt, force,
or obligation.

Is optimistic; does not internalize
failure.
