STRIPE PATTERN


Over stockinette stitch, work stripe patt as follows:


2 rows in B
2 rows in C
2 rows in D
2 rows in E
2 rows in A

Rep these 10 rows for stripe patt.


Note:If you don’t want to have to weave in so many ends, you can carry the yarns
alternately up the side as you go (see page 118).


SSK (LEFT-SLANTING) DECREASE
Slip first st as if to knit and then slip next st as if to knit. Insert left needle
into front of slipped sts and knit them together.


Pattern Stitches

BACK


1 With size 6 needles and A, CO 50 (58, 65, 72) sts.


2 Knit 4 rows.


3 Change to size 7 needles and B, and, beg with a knit row, work in St st and
stripe patt until back measures 11 (12^1 ⁄ 2 , 14^1 ⁄ 2 , 15^1 ⁄ 2 ) inches from beg, ending
with a WS row.


4 Put all sts onto a spare needle or holder for later.
