What do Queen Rania of Jordan,
Camilla, Duchess of York, Jay-Z and
Matthew McConaughey all have
common? A piece of jewellery from
Boucheron, the luxury brand
founded in 1858 by Frédéric
Boucheron. The French house has
long been a destination for royalty
and celebrity, but its collections are
not entirely out of bounds for your
average earner. Its iconic Quatre
collection for example, launched in
2004, starts at £930. Admittedly it
also reaches the dizzying heights of
£120,00 0 for the Quatre Radiant
Edition cuff bracelet. The Quatre
collection is so-called as it reflects
four significant elements in the
history of the brand: ‘Grosgrain’ to
represent founder Frédéric
Boucheron’s family trade of cloth
merchants, ‘Diamonds’ to represent
Boucheron being the first jewellers
of Place Vendôme, ‘Double Godron’
to represent the ever-lasting love
between Frédéric and Gabrielle
Boucheron and ‘Clou de Paris’ to
represent the famous cobblestone
streets of Paris. The Quatre
Classique large ring clearly displays
these four pillars, and it features 25
round diamonds. The collection is
designed to be genderless as
Boucheron Creative Director Claire
Choisne believes jewellery is an
expression of style, not gender.
