Procurement Management

Procurement management automates and streamlines the procurement process
for vendor services and equipment. Contractors are preapproved for spe-
cific types of services and equipment. Then for example, the work order man-
agement system can automatically assign a work request to a preapproved
external contractor triggering and tracking the procurement process needed.
Procurement management has other benefits. Some systems can track
contracts, key contract dates and contractor performance. Systems can also
automatically requisition materials and equipment based on predetermined
maintenance schedules.


Building Management Systems


A BMS monitors, supervises, controls and reports on smart building tech-
nology systems. These systems may include access control, video surveillance,
fire alarms, HVAC control, programmable lighting and electric power
management. Its basic functions include:


n Providing information on supervised building functions including, but
not limited to, current status, archived historical information, summa-
ries, analysis, displays, and reports on control and management functions
n Detecting, annunciating, and managing alarm and other conditions
n Diagnostic monitoring and reporting of system functions, nodes,
devices, and communication networks
n Interfacing between individual smart building applications

These systems typically display the following responses on an operator’s
workstation:


n Alarm summary
n Event summary
n Trend set displays
n Group control and group trend displays
n Communications status
n System status
n Configuration displays
n Communication links status
n System parameters configuration
