oldhisresidencewaschangedtoNewRochelle,NewYork.In 1941 hewasgradu-
atedfromtheSchooloftheFineArtsatYaleUniversityandservedintheArmy
from 1941 to1945.HebecameawarartistandreceivedaGuggenheimFellowship
in 1945 astheresultofhispaintingsoftheItaliancampaign.TheGuggenheimFel-
lowshipwasawardedhimagainin1946,andin 1951 hewonaLouisComfortTiffany
Fellowship.AttheCriticsShowofthewinterof1946-1947hewasawardedFirst
Prize,andachievedHonorableMentionattheCarnegieInternationalExhibitionof
Paintingsin1950.HelivesinNewYorkCity.Afewofhisremarksaboutpainting
