These meal plans are geared to accommodate both men and women, but
because men tend to be taller and heavier than women—and therefore need
more calories for basic body maintenance—guys may need to eat a little bit
more than what’s outlined in the plan. That online calorie intake calculator
I mentioned earlier on page 168 (or a conversation with your doctor) will
help you set your calorie goal. Once you know how much higher your
intake should be, you can decide how you want to make up those extra
calories: maybe with a double serving of brown rice at dinner, an extra 30
grams of nuts with your afternoon snack, a large portion of chicken breast
at dinner, or a bit more cheese sprinkled on your salad.
