Go over to the free Google keyword tool and type in
their URL to see what Google says their site is about- the Google Keyword Tool can be found at:
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
The idea is to use those keywords over and over in your
article titles, blog post titles, within social media, in press
releases, and anywhere else you happen to be. It won't take
long for you to become the 'go to' person in your niche, and
people will seek you out.
Next, Google your name, using quotation marks. For
example, every month I Google " Connie Ragen Green " to
see how many search results are found. I print the first
couple of pages and save them in a folder in my office. My
goal is to have an increase in my visibility each month. I
am also making sure my sites are on the first few pages of
Google, and checking to see what others are saying about
me as well. This is all a part of online visibility.
This also showed me that people are Googling the
misspelling of my middle name, and typing Connie Regan
Green when they search for me. I purchased that domain,
connieregangreen.com, and forwarded it to my main site.
When people tell me that they 'see me everywhere' it is due
to my ongoing efforts at visibility. Each day I make an
effort to get my name out there at least one more time.
