On the whole, those years were
harbingers of a singular experience, which
united poets of diverse stature, culture and
social condition who, as noted by Di Marco
(who came in very young, bringing the voice
of Neorealism) they tackled some questions
which they considered decisive for dialect
poetry in Sicily (the function of dialect
poetry, its relationship with society, the
question of dialect and its relationship with
the national language and the vernaculars),
and they were able to grow together, they
made an all-encompassing cultural choice
