which The John Florio Prize, The Duncan Lawrie prize, the
Circe-Sabaudia prize and the Calvino Prize.
Luigi Fontanella ia a poet, novelist, literary critic and
translator. His book of poetry Round Trip won the Ragusa
Prize in 1993. He has translated into Italian the work of
several contemporary American poets, and into English the
novel Atlante occidentale, by Daniele del Giudice. He is a
professor of Italian at SUNY/Stony Brook, editor of Gradiva
and literary critic of America oggi.
Anthony Molino has published the late Antonio Porta’s
Kisses from Another Dream (City Lights Books, 1987) and
Melusine: a Ballad a diary (Guernica Editions), 1992). With
Nearsights: Selected Poems of Valerio Magrelli (Graywolf
Press, 1991), he introduced into English a writer widely
regarded as Italy’s foremost contemporary poet. A Fulbright
grantee to Italy as well as the recipient of three awards from
the Pennsylvania Arts Council for his translation work, Mr.
Molino has also translated two classic Neapolitan plays:
Eduardo De Filippo’s Natale in casa Cupiello (The Nativity
