There is a staryonder in the heavens. Tocome
from ittous, light musttravel dayandnight fora
hundredyears. Whenlightleftthatstar,itwastravel-
ing186,000milesasecond; andwhen itreachesthe
earthafteritscenturyflight,itisstilltraveling186,000
mileseverysecond. Thereisnoslowingupwiththe
distancetraversed.
A fact like this can never be explained on any
purelymaterialormechanicalbasis. Thecauseofall
thisflowofunflaggingenergyliesfarbackbeyondthe
measureofyardstickorbalance arm,oftelescopeor
prismglass.
Godisthecauseofall,andHeisinvisiblebothto
theeyeofmanandtotheinstrumentsthatmanmay
devise. Yetintherealmofspirit, wemayseekand
findHim. Hemaybediscoveredbytheeyeoffaith.
WemayknowHimnotonlyas OriginatorandUp-
holder, but as God and Father. And finding and
knowingHim,wefindandhavethelifeeternal.
ThusweseethattheBibleandscience shouldnot
be separated. Yetsomemayask,Injustwhatsense
doestheBibleaidinthestudyofscience?
Inansweringthequestion,shallweassumethatthe
Biblehasnothingtodowithscience,andthatscience
has nothingto dowiththe Bible? Shall weaccept
thepositionofHughMiller,thecelebratedgeologist,
thattheBibledoesnotinanysenserevealthegreat
