  1. In a deep, heavy pan, heat the oil over
    medium-high heat.

  2. Add the popcorn kernels.

  3. Cover the pan and turn the heat to
    medium-low.

  4. Cook until the popping sound slows
    down, 6 to 8 minutes.

  5. Turn off the heat and let the popcorn
    sit with the lid on for another 3 minutes.

  6. Sprinkle with the salt and masala.
    Serve immediately.
