where you can feel safe and secure.

Roles oF the DRIveRs In A RelAtIonshIP

The four Psychological Drivers can impact your behavior in an accept-
able and positive way or, to the contrary, they can do it in a negative and
destructive manner.

(A) the gregarious

In its positive expression, when you are heavily influenced by the Gre-
garious, you will seek in your marriage to experience the feeling of
being liked, accepted and loved by your spouse. Typically you will be
close to your mates, relatives, friends, co-workers or classmates. Gre-
garious typically become members of a church, a club or join a team.
They also like the outdoors, connecting with nature.

On the other hand, when a Gregarious is impacting in a negative way
your relationships, you tend to abuse food, alcohol or drugs in order to get
negative attention and connect with your spouse. Therefore, you easily
become overweight, or addicted to chemicals. In the story, at the begin-
ning of this chapter, you will find that Mary was a typical Gregarious.

(B) the Unique

When expressing positive aspects, the Unique have a need for recogni-
tion. They want to feel important and significant in their marriage. They
feel that they are different, and to a certain extent separated and not truly
connected with their spouse because they are mostly self-centered; the
focus of their attention is on what they want to become and what they
want to accomplish; therefore, typically, the Unique work very hard at
any task and become high achievers in their jobs, profession or studies.
