arisk-managementtool to evaluateplansor
actionsintendedtoreduceriskfromnatural
hazards.
In 2003,Lori wedher husbandof 18 years,
and two yearsto the day later,she gavebirth
to theirdaughter.Six yearsafter,their son
arrived.Lori was alovingand devotedwife,
mother,aunt, sister,and daughter.Her hearty
laugh,brightsmile,jovialnature,and childish
enthusiasmfilledherfamilywithjoy.Her
warmth,caring,genuineness,and loyaltyto
familyand friendsendearedher so to all who
had the pleasureto knowher.Lori’slast act
of selflessnessand generosity,donatingher
organsandtissues,savedthelivesofthree
and helpedmanyothers.
Lorienjoyednumerousthings—attending
familyget-togethersandoutings;socializing
withfriends;reading;traveling;diningout;
goingto plays,movies,and her children’s
sportingevents;participatingin non-strenu-
ous outdooractivities(e.g., hikes,bike rides,
andsoftball)incool,overcastweather;using
Excel;eatingqualityice cream.She adored
her childrenand cherishedspendingtime
withthem,as wellas withher parents,
stepparents,in-laws,and niece.

fightagainstosteosarcoma,the latterdue
to the passingof afriend’sson, donations

On January7, 2022,aftervaliantlybattling
the effectsof acerebral hemorrhage,Laura
(Lori)Dinitzsuccumbed,at the age of 51, to a
stroke.
Lori wasbornand raisedin Montgomery
County,Maryland,andwastheolderoftwo
siblings.From an earlyage,she appreciated
the importanceof family;in fact,to her,
familywas everything.Lori formedan imme-
diate,unbreakablebondwithher sister,
watchingoverher,actingasherconfidante
and mentor,and becomingher bestfriend
for life.She excelledin school,particularly
in mathematics,and followedin her father’s
footstepsbyattendingtheUniversityof
Michigan,AnnArbor(UMich).Whilethere,
Lori earnedaBachelorof Artsdegreein
MathematicalSciencesand was amember
of its cyclingteam.Aftergraduatingfrom
UMich,sheearnedaMasterofScience
degreein IndustrialEngineeringfromthe
Universityof Arizona.
In 1995,Lori relocatedto the San Francisco
Bay Areato workas an operationsresearch
analystfor the UnitedStatesGeologicalSur-
vey(USGS). Hercareerwith the USGS

hood.Shelivedherlifeforherfamily.
Afterthechildrenweregrown,Sally andher
husbandhadseveral hobbies,ceramicsand
scrapbookingwereamongtheirfavorites.
Thesehobbiesgavethemanopportunityto
meetanddevelopmanyfriendships.They
treasuredthejoypeopleexperiencedby
receivingahandpaintedceramicorphoto
albumsoftreasuredmemories.
Herfamilytreasuresallthewonderfulmem-
ories.Shewillbemissedandforeverinthe
heartsofherfamilyandfriends.Thefami-
lyis havingaprivateviewingandburial.In

workedinretailsalesforover 17 yearsat

ingtheslopesof Vail, Colorado.Shetraveled
theworldwithherhusband.Theirvacations
tookthemtomanyplacesthroughoutthe
UnitedStatesaswellasEurope,Asia,Cen-
tralandSouthAmericaandtheCaribbean.
Inthelast 15 years,sheandAlbertspent
severalwintermonthsenjoyingthebeach-
esandwarmthofNaples,Florida.Shealso
lovedart,fashion,reading(especiallywith
herbookclub),opera,theater,andhikes
andwalksinnature.Hermostcherished
rolewasbeingMumumtoherfivegrand-
children.
Shewasanexceptionalbeautybothinside
andoutandadoredbyherfamilyandmany

valuedin Muriel’slife.Her sevengrandchil-
drenand six great-grandchildrenbroughther
immeasurablejoy.She andJohnproudly
attendedhighschool,college,post-college
and law schoolgraduationsfor theirgrand-
children.MurielandJohn’smarriagewas
amodelin mutualrespect,loveand com-
panionship.She frequentlymarveledat how
luckyshe wasto havemarriedJohn.They
traveledthe worldtogether,makinglasting
memoriesat homeand abroad.

liaisonofficerto the U.S. Senate;director
of mediarelations;and agencyspokesman
beforeretirementin 1994.He is the recipi-
ent of the CIA’s IntelligenceMedalof Merit
and the CareerIntelligenceMedal.
In 2002,Peterbecamethe foundingExecu-
tive Directorof the InternationalSpy Muse-
um wherehe continuedto focuson edu-
catingthe publicon the importanceof
intelligence.Heretiredin 2017but contin-

University,JimwasappointedtotheUnited
StatesMilitaryAcademyat West Pointwhere
he earnedhis Bachelorof Sciencedegreein
1967.Thisachievementmadehim the first
AfricanAmericanto graduatefromUSMA
whoseparenthad also graduated.
In 1976,Jim joinedITT Corporation.He held
positionsof increasingresponsibilityfor 20
years,first at ITT headquartersin NewYork
City,thenrelocatingtoMinneapolis,MNwhere
heeventuallywasnamedExecutiveVicePres-
identand Directorof Administrationat ITT
ConsumerFinancialCorporation.From 1993to
1996,he was Directorof GovernmentRelations
in the Corporation’sWashingtonoffice.
Jim alsoleft his markin the community.He
wasafoundingmemberof the Executive
LeadershipCouncil,anonprofitorganization
committedto the developmentof globalblack
leaders,andlaterservedasExecutiveDirector,
andsubsequentlyPresident,oftheorganiza-
tion and its relatedFoundation.
Blessedwithabeautifulvoiceand athletic
prowess,Jim enjoyedsingingandplaying
sports,particularlybaseball,basketballand
tennis.After retirement,he lovedto spend
timeboatingandcrabbing,andtookgreat
prideinhelpinghisgranddaughterscatchtheir
first fish. Jim’sengagingpersonalityand sense
ofhumorhelpedtomakehimfeelathome
whereverlifeledhim.
Jim is survivedby his wife of 53 years,Linda;
his daughterKimberlyFowlerLuchtenberg
(Joseph);his son,ScottDanielFowler;two
granddaughters,Ashleyand AlexandraLucht-
enberg; his sister,DianneFowler Reason

at his Culpeper,Virginiafarm.He was awon-
derfulMexicancook,sharinghis culinaryskills
with manyfriendsand familyover the years.
Robinlovedall creaturesgreatand small;he
cherishedmanydogsthroughouthis life,and it
was not unusualto see anestlingor wounded
bird withits wingin asling percheduponhis
shoulder.
Robinis survivedby his wifeof 62 years,
Eleanor;his children,Daisy(MikeBongiovanni),
Susanna(Jim Passanante),Ned (Lori)and Geor-
gia (TimHeatwole);andhis grandchildren,
