SharePoint provides options for opening the Access database.
Access application
Shared Documents list Open Document dialog box
The options presented by SharePoint allow users to copy the application to their computer in read-
only or edit mode. Read-only mode simply means that the application’s design cannot be modified
in the copy. The user is still able to work with the application’s data. Use the Edit option if you
want to make changes to the Access application’s design. The editable version of the application is
shown in Figure 35.12.
If you choose to copy the database in read-only mode (keep in mind that read-only refers to the
application’s design, and not the data in the database), you may receive a security warning message
that SharePoint is trying to write to your computer’s file system. You may need to add the Access
Services application’s URL to the Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer to avoid this warning message.
