160 Part II: Now You’re Cooking! Healthy and Hearty Dishes

Dried Cherry and
Apple Turkey Burger

Cherries and apples are a great combination, and in a perfectly grilled turkey burger,
they’re even better. Cinnamon, allspice, and orange juice round out this turkey delight.
Despite how it sounds, allspice isn’t a combination of several spices; it’s a dried unripe
fruit that looks much like peppercorns. Whole allspice lasts longer on your shelf than
the ground spice, so if you can, buy whole allspice and grind it yourself.

Teriyaki Turkey Burger

This recipe uses low-sodium soy sauce, but you won’t notice the difference in the taste.
The soy sauce blends well with the fresh ginger and garlic to turn this burger into one
of your favorite recipes. The fresh mushrooms help keep this turkey burger moist while
cooking.
