NIGHT AND LOW-LIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY / Digital Postproduction

Adjusting white balance in Lightroom

Adjusting the white balance of an image in
Lightroom is really simple. What’s more, you can
adjust the white balance of any image file type in
Lightroom, including RAW files, JPEG files, and
TIFF files. Lightroom doesn’t actually care what
file type it is. The only difference is that when
you edit the white balance on RAW files, you get
a few more preset options.

nice clear sky I was expecting, I ended up with
an overcast evening. When editing the image, I
started to really play with the white balance and
ended up cooling down the temperature and
increasing the magenta, thus creating a purple
night, as you can see in Figure 11-10. You may
find that just about every image you take at
night or in low light needs to have the white
balance adjusted; how realistically or artistically
is up to you.
