CHAPTER
NIGHT AND LOW-LIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY / Digital Postproduction

    ■ Scale. This sets the zoom level in the
loupe view.
■ Done. This sets the current white balance.
One of the coolest things when setting the white
balance in Lightroom is that as you move the
White Balance Selector tool over your image, the
preview window in the top-left corner changes to
show a live preview of the white balance. This
can really make it easy to see the right spot to set
the white balance, as you can see in Figure 11-11.

When you select the White Balance Selector
tool, a set of options appear in the toolbar right
below the image, allowing you to configure the
tool to your liking. The choices are:

■ Auto Dismiss. When this is selected, the

White Balance Selector tool is automatically
dismissed after you click an area in the image.
When this is unselected, you can keep picking
spots until you find the perfect one, but you
will need to either click the Done button or
just pick another tool to use.

■ Show Loupe. This shows a close-up view of

the pixels under the eyedropper, along with
the actual RGB values, allowing you to pick
the perfect spot to use as the neutral spot.

ABOUT THIS FIGURE
I knew that the horse was white
and that picking a spot that
looked neutral to me got the col-
ors back to normal and rendered
the scene as I remembered it.
